About IPROM
www.iprom.co.uk started as a directory with a few hundred links to useful web sites submitted by its users.
We used Google as our affiliate search facility long before they became well know on the Internet, its potential was recognised a long time ago and the decision was correct.
We also had our design services on the same site, all at http://www.internet-promotions.co.uk. This caused confusion and the Links Directory was separated into its own identity, http://www.iprom.co.uk and has grown from strength to strength since.
The site boasted features like a full search facility, Shopping, Auctions, Downloads and Forums. We recently re-developed the site to use a database back-end, rather than manually edited HTML pages which caused maintenance problems.
To ease the burden on our editors an additional tool was developed, in April 2001 the web crawler namely ' Harald ' was unleashed upon the Internet. Links crawled are held in a holding area awaiting manual vetting.
The vetting process follows strict corporate guidelines and links will only be entered in the Directory if they are of suitable benefit to the web user.
